Cowan retires after 26 years

In 1990, Dale Cowan started umpiring Little League Baseball and DoDDs Youth Baseball in Germany while he was serving in the Army in Heidelberg. While stationed in Wurzburg, Germany in 1998, he was hired by DoDDs to serve as the European and DoDDs Youth Baseball Umpire trainer for the Southwest Region. Cowan continued umpiring Little League and Youth Baseball and was selected to Umpire the Little League European Regionals in Kutno, Poland in 2001. He was also selected to umpire the World Series in 2004; however, due to the Army moving him back to the states, was unable to go. He umpired European Little League and DoDDs Championships from 1998-2005. The Army brought Dale to Fort Hood where he joined the then Temple Baseball Chapter (now Belton-Temple Baseball Chapter). Cowan has served on the board as Secretary/Treasurer for six years and assignment secretary for two years. He was honored to umpire the Texas 4A UIL Championship game in 2015. Dale is retiring to spend more time with his family.
