TASO FOOTBALL BESTOWS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD TO BILL FECCI
The TASO Football Division has presented their most prestigious honor, The Sam Brown Award, to Bill Fecci. Sam Brown, a Texas football officiating legend, and pioneer, was instrumental in integrating the African‑American football officiating organization into the Southwest Football Officials Association (predecessor TASO‑Football).
Bill began his football officiating career in 1975 serving the San Antonio Chapter as the Division 4 and 2 board representative, the treasurer and was selected for the San Antonio football Chapter Hall of Honor in 2021.
In 1998, Bill was elected as the Football District V Director advancing to serve as Football Vice President, President‑Elect, President, Immediate Past President, and Football Ex‑Officio, a position he still holds. While on the TASO (multi‑sport) Board of Directors, Bill served as Board Chairman for one term.
Bill becomes only the fifth recipient of the Sam Brown Award following Sam Brown, Bud Alexander, Beau Hicks, and Dotson Lewis.
