GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL RULE CHANGES & OFFICIATING CLARIFICATION

Clarifications/Changes

  1. Center can snap the ball from the side if they need to. We encourage all teams to snap between the legs to better prepare them for club, collegiate, Olympic, and national team play.
  2. All offensive players without the ball must stop running once the ball has crossed the LOS via run play or it has been caught passed the LOS via a pass play.
  3. Lateral passes are allowed behind the LOS ONLY
  4. Flag belts must be worn tightly so that they DO NOT MOVE away from the hip during play.
    1. First offense = 5‑yard penalty
    2. Second offense = unsportsmanlike conduct up to ejection 10‑yard penalty
  5. Any fighting, intentional tackling, elbowing, cheap shots, or blocking will result in immediate ejection and possible removal from the league. FOUL PLAY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
  6. Players that forcibly throws down the opponent’s flag will receive a warning followed by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of 10 yards. If the behavior continues the player will be ejected.
  7. Upon a change of possession via an interception the ball will be spotted where the defensive players flag is pulled.
  8. Overtime rules are as follows
    1. First OT – each team has the choice to go for 1pt or 2pt. The team that scores the most points is declared the winner
    2. Second OT – each team must go for 2pts from the 10‑yard line. Team that received the ball first in OT 1 will now play defense 1st
    3. Third OT – the team that gains the most yardage on a singles play is declared the winner – Possession decided by a coin toss
