Cecil Jones

Cecil Royce Jones, 88, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, from complications following surgery. He leaves behind his daughters Kandy Jones of Cross Plains and Melissa Jones of San Antonio, step‑daughters Suzanne Knight and Nancy Tindell, granddaughter Christie Powers and her three daughters, and grandson Jonathan Tindell. Also his sister Mary Jo and brother‑in‑law Chuck Mencio, many nieces and nephews and the love of his life, Margie Earhart.

Cecil was born in El Campo, Texas, November 10, 1928. He graduated from Harlandale High School and Trinity University both in San Antonio. He served in the Army Reserves and began his work life as a high school football coach.

He later went to work in sales for Alamo Athletics that later became Riddell/All‑American. He was promoted to international sales manager and spent over sixty years cultivating business and friendships that have lasted a life time. He officiated high school and Junior College football games, served as President of SFOA, Treasurer of NAERA, and received numerous awards for his work in support of high school football coaches, and for his support of the Border Olympics.

He loved to golf, travel, and spend time with family and friends. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for many years, and was generous to a fault, not only with his time but also his money.

He was humble, spoke kindly of everyone, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please join us for his memorial service, Friday, November 10, 2017, at 1:30 PM, Concordia Lutheran Church, 16801 Huebner Rd., San Antonio, TX, 78258, with a reception following at the church.

Arrangements by Mission Park La Paz Funeral Home, 403 Center St., San Antonio, TX 78202.
