WALTER EUGENE BATES
One of our longtime TASO officials, Walter Eugene Bates of Comanche, passed away on Saturday, March 15th. Eugene was one of our top softball umpires and also officiated basketball, football and volleyball. He was involved in a workplace accident on Friday, March 7th. Not only did Eugene officiate high school sports but he was for many years involved in coaching his boys in every sport.
He was enjoying doing the same with his 6 grandkids.
He was an active deacon at his church and was a lead usher.
Eugene was a great friend and a mentor to anyone that worked with him. This is a huge loss for his family, church and community.
