Angelo Montalbano

Angelo Eugene Montalbano – Houston TASO Football Life Member – GALVESTON
– Angelo Eugene Montalbano, 81, of Galveston, passed away at his home
surrounded by his family on July 25, 2011. He was born in Galveston on
January 3, 1930. Angelo was a brick mason by trade and worked in
Galveston for many years. He also served in the US Navy based in San
Diego, California. He was active in the Galveston Mardi Gras as well.
Angelo spent 35 years as a football referee with the crew of Billy Rees,
Jim Kleinecke, Buddy Mullens, and Robert Mclaren. Angelo lived his
entire life in Galveston and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather
and great grandfather. He leaves many, many nieces, nephews, cousins,
extended family members and friends too numerous to count.

He is
survived by his wife of 56 years, Maryann Montalbano of Galveston; sons,
Paul and Peggy Montalbano, of Galveston, Frank Montalbano, of
Galveston, and Louis and Tammy Montalbano, of Galveston; daughters,
Angela Kunz, of Galveston, Kathy and John MacLean, of Oak Leaf, Texas;
daughter‑in‑law, Judi Montalbano of Glenn Heights, Texas.

Due to
his wishes the services will be private but the family encourages
visitors to come to the family home on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in a
celebration of Angelo’s life.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Angelo’s name to the Galveston chapter of the VFW.
