TASOSTATEMENT CONCERNING UIL SEC DECISION
“TASO
does not believe this decision is in the best interest of Texas High School
Football, but we respect the process and the decision of the UIL State Executive
Committee” said Michael Fitch, TASO Executive Director. “We are glad to bring
closure to this situation we have been dealing with for 15 months. We wish the
young man the best as he moves toward adulthood, and trust he has learned a
valuable life lesson.”
The UIL
State Executive Committee has ruled that one of the young men from John Jay
High School involved in the on‑field assault of a TASO Football member in 2015
will be eligible to again participate in interscholastic activities during the
2017‑2018 seasons. Fitch testified on behalf of TASO at the hearing
expressing opposition to the player’s return.
