Z. U. (URBAN) BRIGHT

Urban, was a retired long‑time member of the TASO Football Abilene Chapter.

Zed Urban Bright, age 79, passed from this life on November 2, 2021 in Abilene, TX. He was born on June 6, 1942 in Merkel, TX to Zed Henderson Bright and Anna Zell (Seago) Bright.
Urban attended Cisco College, as well as, the University of North Texas before being called to serve our country in the United States Army. He lived in San Antonio, El Paso and Austin before moving back to the land he loved in Trent. In Austin, Urban operated Trent Construction and worked in the leasing industry. When he got back to Trent he opened up the Mesquite Bean in Merkel and the Trent Country Club. People will tell you that Urban was an honest, personable, confident, fun loving, and hard‑working man. He was a man of his word, was influential, and gregarious as one described him. He was dedicated to sports in high school and was a true athlete. He served on the Trent School Board and was MC for Trent Homecoming several times. In high school, Urban sold the “Grit” Newspaper. Urban had a love for Trent and the community like no other. He was devoted to his friends and family, touched many lives along the way and will be missed dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Tracer Urban Bright of Trent, daughter: Caprice Bright Richards and husband Aaron Richards of Austin; His two pride and joys grandchildren Ramsey Ann and Hudson David Richards; two brothers: Charles Bright and wife Christina of Brownwood and Mike Bright and wife Billie of Cross Plains, TX; sister: Latrell Joy of Lubbock; special granddogs: LuLu and Hank; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
