Johnny Cox

 

NOTE: Johnny loved and specialized in Six‑Man Football officiating and was selected to be the Referee in multiple Six‑Man Football State Championships.

Johnny Edwin Cox, born August 26, 1957 in Brownwood, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2020 in Midland, Texas. A visitation will be held Thursday September 10, 2020 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Gilbreath Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00am at Evergreen Cemetery.
Johnny Cox was the longest active member of the Lenorah Volunteer Fire Department who enjoyed refereeing 6 man football, hunting, coaching Little League, and watching western movies. He worked in the oilfield for over 35 years and eventually retired with Gravity. Johnny “Dude” to his grandchildren, was best known for always having ice cream money in his shirt pockets and sharing it with his children and grandchildren.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Cox; his son Dylan Cox and wife Kinzi Jo and their children Cooper John Cox and Stetson Reed Cox; his daughters Lacey Guzman and husband Chilo Guzman, and Sandi Cox; his mother Sylvia Cox; his brother Bryan Cox; his nephew Brad and wife Christina Cox and their children, Julia, Isabella, Boyd, and Gabby; his niece Misty and husband Kyle McMorries and their children Nayce and Cal; and his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Cox.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to First National Bank Johnny Cox Scholarship Fund for Six Man Football. Donations can be sent to First National Bank in Stanton at 119 N Saint Peter St, Stanton, TX 79782.
