SAM NIETO

Sinton – Samuel “Sam” H. Nieto passed away on December 7, 2020. He was 75.  San was a member of the TASO Corpus Christi Softball and Volleyball Chapter.

Sam was born on September 13, 1945 in Mathis, Texas to Lucas and Maria (Hinojosa) Nieto. He was born and raised in Mathis, Texas but was a resident of Sinton, Texas for most of his life. Sam proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He later became a well‑known face in the community of Sinton, where he worked for the United States Postal Service. Sam then retired after 38 years of dedicated service to the city of Sinton. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Lucas and Maria Nieto; sisters: Maria Olga Galvan and Maria Lisa Salinas.

Survivors include his sons: Sammy Nieto (Suzanne) and Christopher Nieto both of Sinton, Texas; daughters: Kristin Serrano (Grabiel) of Van Vleck, Texas and Samantha Jo Stone (Jon) of Balch Spring, Texas; 7 grandchildren; Gabrielle Perez, Joshua Serrano, Bianca Miller, Kayla Nieto, Brandon Nieto, Carlos Nieto and Antonio Nieto; 2 great‑grandchildren: Olivia Serrano and Leo Perez; step grandchildren: Jonathan Mercer, Cheyenne Stone and Jordan Stone; brothers: Hector Nieto of Mathis, Texas; Guadalupe Nieto (Gloria) of Annaville, Texas; Lucas Nieto (Antonia) of Fort Worth, Texas; Rudy Nieto (Elsa) of Mathis, Texas and Efrain Saenz (Sylvia) of Alice, Texas; sister: Idalia Ramirez (Joe) of Fort Worth, Texas.

Visitation will begin Sunday, December 13, 2020, 5:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Chapel Service will be held the same evening Sunday, December 13, 2020, 6:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, December 14, 2020, 11:00 AM in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi.
