TOM WEEKLEY

Tom Weekley was born Feb. 22, 1930 in Blackwater, Missouri and died May 3, 2022 in Austin, Texas. His parents were Luther and Harriet Tutt Weekley. In 1934, after the death of his father, he came to the Rio Grande Valley to live with his aunt and uncle, Virginia and Bill Whalen.
Memorial services will be Wednesday May 11 at 11:00 at Calvary Baptist Church, McAllen with interment at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas.

A sports enthusiast, he officiated football and track for over thirty five years. He was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame, received the 2007 Curly Hays Official’s Award from the Texas High School Coaches Association, and was state president of the Southwest Football Officials Association. Additionally, he promoted American football in Mexico and officiated games at Monterrey Tech.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Leslie White (Jeff), Mary Dunn (Mark), Laura Atlas (Andy), and Julia Greaney (Glen), Grandchildren Luke White (Bekah), Thomas White (Brooke), James White (Shaylyn), Elizabeth White, Ariel Atlas, Jake Atlas, Caitlin Greaney, and Ryan Greaney, and great grandchildren Jude, Juniper, Jubilee, Beckett, John, and Ellie and survived by his sister Cindy Lyster (Mike). He was also a foster parent for five years.
