DOTSON LEWIS RECEIVES TWO AWARDS

The TASO Football Board of Directors has honored SOA/TASO legend Dotson Lewis by bestowing both the “Sam Brown” and “Life Member” awards.  The Sam Brown Award is the highest and most prestigious award of the TASO Football Division.  Dotson is only the third recipient, after Mr. Brown himself, to be so honored. At the same time, Dotson received a Life Member Award of the TASO Football Division.  Previously, he received the same designation from the TASO Basketball Division.  In this video, Joel Hillard, TASO District VI Director is presenting the Sam Brown Award and TASO Football South Texas Chapter President, Anthony Ford, is presenting the Life Member Award.

Dotson was the first executive director of the Southwest Officials Association, now Texas Association of Sports Officials. Dotson, is known as the Ambassador of American Football Officiating to Japan, having made many trips to Japan to instruct their officials.  As a result, for more than 30 years, the TASO Football Annual Meeting has had attendees from Japan.  Officials not only across Texas, but the world have benefited from Dotson’s guidance and leadership.

Well done, indeed.
